The Road Warriors RHPs Jose Espinal and Kevin Mannix were acquired by the Long Island Ducks. Espinal was supposed to sign with the Road Warriors and start a game in Somerset, but instead was sent to the Ducks because after Donovan Osborne was placed on the IL. Mannix was originally property of the Ducks but has spent the whole season with the Warriors due to a car accident he was involved in, back in May. Mannix pitched in 12 games, 2 starts, with a 3.60 ERA and a 0-3 record.
To replace these spots on the roster, Chris Flinn was activated off the DL. Flinn started opening day in Lancaster and pitched 2.2 innings and lost the game. Flinn was then scratched from a start in Somerset before being placed on the DL with an elbow strain. Flinn reached AAA Durham last year in the Devil Rays organization and pitched in 8 games, 1 start, with a 3.86 ERA and no record. Flinn will be a welcomed member to the Road Warrior rotation who currently has 5 starters, it remains to be seen who will loose a spot in the rotaion. Damien Myers, Darwin Soto, Kieran Mattison, Randy Dicken and Charlie Hesseltine are the current five starters for the Warriors. Myers has been a workhorse all season, since starting the year of out the bullpen and Mattison has been nothing short of terrific since joining the team a few weeks ago. Darwin Soto also started the year in the bullpen and has done a good job transitioning to the starters role. Dicken and Hesseltine have both been decent, yet inconsistent, and both are on loan from other A.L. Teams.
LHP Miguel Martinez was also signed to the Road Warriors. This will be Martinez's second year with the Road Warriors after pitching in 36 games last year for the team. Martinez had an ERA of 7.66, an 0-4 record with 1 save, and 54 walks in 36 innings pitched.
