Road Warriors pick up another former Major Leaguer

In the beginning of the season, a problem with the Road Warriors roster was that it consisted of 7 outfielders. However, for most of the season, it has turned out that the roster has had 8 infielders, and Manager Jeff Scott has done a great job rotating 5 middle infielders and 3 first baseman into getting playing time.
Part of the solution has arrived, however, with the recent release of IF Jorge Mejia. Mejia spelled SS Gabe Suarez at shortstop and played second base as well. Mejia appeared in 27 games at second, and 20 at short for the Warriors. Mejia also hit .221 with 2 home runs and 5 stolen bases. Manager Jeff Scott missed Tuesday night's game in Lancaster, to drive Mejia to Atlantic City where he would meet up with the Les Capitales, his new team, based out of Quebec City in the Can-Am League.
Mejia's roster spot was quickly taken up by former Pittsburgh Pirate, Mike Garcia. Garcia will work out of the bullpen for the Road Warriors and add more depth to a pitching staff with an ERA about 5.00. Garcia pitched in 20 games over 2 seasons for the Pirates going 1-2 with a 7.36 ERA. Since those 99-00 seasons, has jumped from the Pirates organization to Baltimore and Cubs minor league systems.
