Where are they now?: Road Warriors in 2009
It has been two years since the red and gray were on the field in the Atlantic League, since then, most players have decided to move on to new endeavors. However, some players are continuing their careers in the Atlantic League and a couple guys have signed minor league contracts. Here's a look at which Road Warriors players are continuing to work towards their goal of playing Major League Baseball...
Alberto Castillo- Norfolk Tides, AAA affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles
Ian Bladergroen- High Desert Mavericks, A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners
Vito Chiaravalloti- Camden Riversharks
Julio Guerrero- Camden Riversharks
Steven Doetsch- Southern Maryland Blue Crabs
David Housel- Lancaster Barnstormers
Gabe Suarez- Long Island Ducks
Estee Harris- Long Island Ducks
Casey Cahill- Somerset Patriots
Travis Ezi- Bridgeport Bluefish (released)
Kevin Mannix- Camden Riversharks (released)
Manuel Mejia- Camden Riversharks (released)
Notes: LHP Alberto Castillo appeared in 28 games last year with the Orioles, the second of two players to make it to Major League Baseball after playing for the Road Warriors. The other player is Catcher Robinson Cancel, currently in the New York Mets system. Former Road Warrior Manager Jeff Scott is now the Pitching Coach and Director of Player Procurement with the Camden Riversharks.
